These Strawberries and Cream Sorbet Mimosas are a little taste of summer, and that’s exactly what we need in the UK right now! It’s the end of July, but it feels more like October – lately it’s been nothing but rainy and grey. At least it’s not been too cold I guess. I think summer might be over for us, but who knows whats August will bring. But, for now, we can at least enjoy some summery drinks! Strawberry and Thyme Slushie Cocktails

These Strawberry and Thyme Slushie Cocktails are not only gorgeous, they’re totally delicious too. Sweet strawberries are muddled with aromatic thyme and white rum, add some crushed strawberry ice and soda water and you have the perfect Valentine’s Day cocktail to share with your sweetheart. It’s so easy to make, with a little help from your Vitamix!

Love is taking over Giraffes Can Bake at the moment, and I am a-okay with that! Valentine’s Day seems to be a bit of a marmite holiday, and I am one of the lovers! Sure, you could say it’s a commercial holiday exploited by Hallmark and chocolate companies but it’s also about love, and what’s wrong with that? A day to celebrate love, in all forms, is a day I’m a fan of. You don’t need to buy into the commercial side of it to celebrate love. And in this often scary and sad world, I think we all need a day where we take that extra step to tell the people we care about that we love them and wouldn’t be about them. So yes, I am firmly in the pro-Valentine’s Day camp.

Raspberry Moscow Mule – A Summer Cocktail

Belvedere vodka combined with spicy and bubbly ginger ale, fresh lime juice and sweet, tart raspberries in a cold copper mug. This Raspberry Moscow Mule is a summery twist on the classic cocktail.

Can we claim it’s officially summer yet? We’re still having lots of grey and rainy days which are typical for a British summer, but the temperature is consistently climbing and the sun is showing its face more and more often. And summer calls for cocktails, at least in my house! I love a good, classic cocktail like the Moscow Mule – but I love to add my own little twists to make it yummier and revamp it for the season! So this Raspberry Moscow Mule was born.

Captain America Slushy Cocktail {Civil War}

Today is the day!!! Captain America: Civil War release day! Well in the UK it is anyway, sorry America! Yep, that’s right – us little British folk get the new Captain America movie before actual America! That’s what you get for throwing our tea in the harbour! Just kidding, I love y’all really! We seem to get most Marvel movies about a week before the US, I’m not too sure why but I’m certainly not complaining. Because I LOVE Marvel and the sooner the better, especially when it’s my boo, Steve Rogers! I couldn’t let the occasion pass without a cocktail in his honour, particularly when this film is Civil War – all kinds of crazy shit is going to go down and so I’m supporting my boy the only way I know how, creating a recipe in his name! The Captain America Slushy Cocktail is me shouting loud and clear that I am firmly in the #TEAMCAP camp!

Peach and Raspberry Iced Tea

Cool, refreshing iced tea made with green tea and sweetened with a homemade peach and raspberry syrup, the perfect summer drink

I’m not a tea drinker, I just don’t like it – I know, I’m a terrible brit! Iced tea is a different story though, I believe the fact that it’s cold helps reduce some of the tannin which, in turn, makes it less bitter. This is my first time making my own iced tea and I’m definitely going to start making it more often, it’s so much better than the bottled stuff and you don’t get a lot of iced tea in restaurants here. Making it yourself is great because it means you control how sweet it is and you can get creative with flavours! Plus, it’s so easy to make, what’s not to love!
