I think I outdid myself on over-the-top dessert you guys. I didn’t think I could out do my Chocolate Chip Cookie Ultimate Layer Cake, yet here I am with a big chocolate egg spilling creme egg filling all over a fudgy brownie sitting in a nest of cadbury flakes! But this Easter weekend almost falls on my 30th birthday, so I figured I should go a bit crazy with it! Maybe we can call this cake my pre-midlife crisis!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers in the UK! Don’t panic my lovely US people, our Mother’s Day falls in a completely different month to yours. But in the UK, today is a day to celebrate the wonderful mothers, grandmothers and mother-figures in our lives – those wonderful women that support us, love us and care for us unconditionally. I consider myself extremely lucky to have an amazing mum who I would be lost without, so this recipe is dedicated to her and was made for her. Because is there a better way to say “Thank you” than delicious cupcakes? Perhaps cupcakes topped with frosting flavoured with her favourite bubbly!

The trend may have died down now, but my love for cupcakes definitely hasn’t. I mean, what’s not to love? It’s basically an excuse to eat an entire cake and not have your family look at you like you’re dishonouring their name. After my many, many struggles with making macarons, I now really enjoy making them! With all the rules you’re supposed to follow and all the scary stories lots of people will tell you about the horror of macaronage, they can seem very daunting. But once you’ve learned all the tips and tricks and, most importantly, figured out what works for you – you’ll be able to impress everybody with your awesome macarons! In this post I not only have a delicious Chocolate and Hazelnut Macaron recipe for you, but I’m sharing all the tricks I’ve picked up along my journey of learning to make these misunderstood cookies with you – including photos for those of you who are more visual like me!
