I’ve always been turned off by the idea of green smoothies. I don’t know why, because I love my greens! Spinach? Yum! Kale? One of my favourite foods! But the idea of drinking them just sounded wrong to me! But I am officially a convert, green smoothies are awesome!
I finally decided to take the green smoothie plunge because of a very annoying infliction I have right now. My jaw hates me and I can’t eat anything that’s even remotely chewy or crunchy without being in a lot of pain. And this takes kale, one of my favourite foods, off the table for me. I’ve really been missing kale in my diet, so enter the kale avocado banana smoothie!
Kale by itself in a smoothie would be a tad too bitter so I added banana to give it some sweetness and avocado for creaminess. One of my favourite ways to eat kale is tossed in lime juice, so I threw in the juice of two limes. Then I blended that sucker up and the end result was really yummy. It’s a great way for me to get more greens and vitamins into my diet while I can’t eat most vegetables unless they’re way overcooked!
If, like I was, you’re apprehensive about green smoothies I would definitely recommend you give it a go. I can’t guarantee you’ll love it, I think it’s definitely an acquired taste. But this smoothie is a great starter for you green lovers, since it’s nice and creamy it’ll go down really nicely. I’m going to be experimenting with green smoothies a lot more for sure! I have to tell you though guys, it feels really good to be posting something that is actually healthy and not me just telling myself it’s healthy because it has some fruit in it!

Your smoothie looks fantastic! I too, have preferred to eat my greens but like you my jaw has been giving me a bit of trouble. (I don’t think it’s quite as sore as yours…) Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! Making smoothies out of them is definitely a great way to keep the greens in your diet when your jaw isn’t playing nice!
This smoothie sounds delicious! I love the vibrant color of the drink as well. 🙂
