Gluten Free Eggnog Cookies are thick and chewy, they're the ultimate Christmas Cookie. They’re made with nutmeg and a healthy dose of bourbon so they’re full of holiday cheer - a stack of eggnog cookies straight on, with a glass of eggnog in the background

Eggnog? Do you love it or does it kind of ick you out? Eggnog isn’t something that ever caught on much here in the UK, but the idea of it and the flavours really intrigued me. Eggs, cream, nutmeg and booze – sounds pretty damn delicious to me! So when Starbucks starting doing the eggnog latte over here I had to try it, and I thought it was delicious! I was firmly on the eggnog train. But I know it grosses some people out, especially those who have never tried it, I think it’s the idea of drinking raw eggs (even though it really is pretty safe to do so these days). But as someone who loves an egg white in her cocktails, that doesn’t put me off at all! But for those of you who love the flavours that are in eggnog but don’t want to drink it, I made you these Gluten Free Eggnog Cookies! Yep – just for you!

Ah, autumn! That transitional season where the leaves change, the clocks go back, warm weather becomes a thing of distant memories, and pumpkin spice dominates the entire world! Here in London this week it feels like we skipped autumn altogether and went straight to winter, it’s friggin’ freezing! But with how up and down the weather has been here lately, I’m holding out hope it will warm up again for a while before we’re fully submerged into winter. Our clocks went back over a week ago, so I’m mostly used to leaving for work in the dark and getting home in the dark now, but I am not used to this freezing temperatures, I need to go glove shopping stat! Look at me talking about the weather, how boringly British of me! Let’s talk about this Gluten Free Apple Upside Down Cake instead!

Remember, remember the 5th of November,

Gunpowder, treason, and plot,

I know of no reason, why the gunpowder treason,

Should ever be forgot

Recipe Video:

If you’re not in Britain, or one of the common wealths (is that the correct term?), then you might not be all that familiar with Bonfire Night. Also known as Guy Fawkes Night or Fireworks Night, it is a British holiday on 5th November where we celebrate a failed plot to blow up the Houses of Parliament by the Catholics, who wanted to kill King James I and oust his government because they were Protestant (that’s a very, very basic description of the events – some of which may even be wrong!). It was foiled when Guy Fawkes was discovered guarding all the gunpowder in the tunnels beneath. So, naturally, we celebrate his capture and gruesome execution by setting off fireworks and burning an effigy of Guy on a bonfire – because that’s a totally normal thing to do! It may have a slightly odd reason behind it, but Guy Fawkes Night is always such a fun celebration – you wrap up warm to watch pretty fireworks, eat fairground style food, and just have a generally good time!

Autumn is well and truly here, the leaves are turning shades of red and brown, the air is crisp, and the mornings are dark. In England autumn usually means lots and lots of rain too, but so far we’ve been spared from too much rain and this weekend is turning out to be pretty warm. Since we’re in October now, blackberry season is over – but my freezer is still fully stocked with these gorgeous, sweet berries and, thus, these Gluten Free Blackberry Cheesecake Brownies were born.
